Qualifications

The applicants should have:

Advanced university degree in social sciences, journalism, communications and other related fields;

Good knowledge of media and public relations and solid understanding of Tanzania culture, history and political contexts;

Strong advocacy skills, with a good understanding of strategic communication and communication for development; Knowledge of communications approaches for planning, executing, and monitoring communications strategies

Excellent oral and written communications and edrting skills in English.

Similar competence in Kiswahili is required

Excellent computer / information systems skills

At least five years of increasingly responsible experience in public relations and communications;

Candidates with the following will be preferred:

Understanding of the UN system in general and especially UNFPA mandate, policies and operations, as well as the current development topics and political issues in Tanzania;

An appreciation of programmes in crisis/post crisis situations
