Job Description
Broad knowledge of the Tanzanian Local Government sector and how it operates
Knowledge of the operational aspects of solid waste collection, transport and disposal Understanding of the cost structures of SWM and an ability to determine and analyze the costs of each aspect of SWMsystems.
Experience of developing and implementing SWM research studies such as waste composition inventories, willingness-to-pay surveys etc
Experience
of developing and implementing waste recycling schemes Experience of
managing and upgrading a basic waste disposal site
Proven ability to deliver support in the form of on-the-job training and mentoring as well as formal training
With a minimum of 5 years professional experience in solid waste management, the applicant is also expected to have:
• At least Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or similar skills
• Experience in solid waste management, including training
• Well-developed skills in training, mediation, coaching and presentation
• Well-developed organization skills
• Well-developed social skills
• Understanding of the special conditions in Tanzania
• Understanding of Development Partner World Bank management systems and reporting.
• Excellent communication and report writing skills
• Computer literacy, preferably with MS project and GIS related software
