Position Description:
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager we seek to appoint a Senior Underground Project Engineer at our Bulyanhulu
gold mining operation. The objective of this position is to assist the
technical services department in the control and implementation of UG
infrastructure projects in a supervisory capacity. The incumbent will
be responsible for managing multiple project management teams for the
full life-cycle of underground projects.
Key Result Areas/Essential Functions
The Senior UG
Projects Engineer is responsible for various supervisory functions
relating to the control and implementation of underground infrastructure
projects which include;
•
Development of project scopes of work and requests for proposals, and
participate in procuring, managing design consultants and construction
contractors.
• Manage project scheduling, budget monitoring and cost reporting for the projects.
•
Track critical activity deliverables (maintain a record of project
milestones) on the project schedule and ensure projects are carried out
within budget and on time.
• Ensure safety and QA/Qc programs are consistent and maintained.
• Participate in and lead risk assessments and actively manage the risks of projects.
• Coordinate with operations and site management on status, trends and changes of approved projects.
• Maintain positive working relationship with operations to facilitate the coordination and execution of projects.
• Maintain effective and on-going communications with construction contractor and management teams.
• Ensure all project work is carried out in accordance with company safety standards.
• Attend weekly projects meetings.
• Assist with mine planning/production work as required.
• Daily supervision of contractors working on projects.
• Monitoring safety compliance of contractors.
• Make sure a high standard of quality workmanship is maintained.
• Coordination of material and equipment resources.
• Keeping accurate record of project progress and material issues.
Professional Skills
Education Requirements:
• A degree in Mining Engineering.
• PMP certification would be advantageous.
Experience Requirements:
• Three to five years experience in construction work and infrastructure.
• Underground experience would be an added advantage, specifically in underground capital projects work
