Job Description


Responsibilities
Develop and Integrate the Role of Contracts and Grants Accountant
Devise and implement a strategy to meet evolving needs as partners grow and develop;
Develop and maintain professional working relationships with all contract holders. providing sound guidance on grant  financial management and compliance;
Fully integrate the role of Contracts and Grants Accountant within the Finance Team. ensuring synergy between the existing positions and this one.
Partner Reviews and Internal Audit
Maintain a comprehensive timetable for partner financial management performance reviews
Liaise with the Contract and Grants Manager and Outreach Team to carry out the reviews in an integrated, timely and cost effective way.
Carry out internal audits of contract holder organizations and prepare internal audit reports and recommendations to Sr. Management.
Ensure Partner Understanding of HJF/HJFMRIIUSG policies and Regulations
Master and consistently review the key policies and regulations that govern HJF/HJFMRI partner contracts, as well a the rules that govern US Government grants;
Advice partners on relevant compliance issues related to both finance and procurement;
Create and facilitate partner trainings, including the development of educational and resource materials;
Report compliance concerns and issues to the Sr. Management in a timely way
Reporting
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting from contract holders;
Carry out timely processing of partner financial reports in OB;

Qualifications
The Sr. Accountant-Contracts and Grants will have a talent for communicating complex financial information culturally diverse people who are not finance professionals.

Provide analytical and statistical data on the status of all contracts on a monthly and as-need-be basis.

CPA holder
At least 3 years experience in contracts and grants accounting in a similar sized or larger NGO
Knowledge of and experience with QuickBooks
Audit training and experience
Excellent Microsoft Office skills
Ability to produce financial reports with a high level of accuracy and professional presentation
High standard of written and spoken English
